simple tester film posters

I have used a very simple, but effective layout here it is strong and puts the point across
This photo is a very strong photo and represents a lot to do with the film, using the same basic layout. The photo is good because it is a street basketball court and completely desserted, apart from the single basketball. The composition of this photo is key for the effect that it has, and was not set up as that is where the ball was resting and was just my choice to take the photo at that angle. I did not realise the impact of the photo until I looked at on the computer screen.
This is the same layout using a photo in the composition but using our own home court, I dont think this has as much impact because it is of an indoor court and looks a bit more upheld.
Using blue isn't as effective as the red, but using the black and white photo on the street screen. But the text is efective place of putting information

This is a silhouette but I did not take it any further than this stage as it did not have the right feel and impact that I am looking for.

My Professional looking tester trailers

After gathering all the feedback from my previous trailer I decided to create two more tester trailers using all feedback from my audience and suggestions from them. I decided that they needed themes that relate to my genre of film so i decided on a documentary themed trailer and a Sports themed film trailer, i showed these to people and gathered feedback and put that towards my final film trailer

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHOD0oinioE&NR=1 - Documentary

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KptvSyP2S1U - Sports

Results
Documentary style- music good, transitions screens

Sports style- opening bit, short fade to black clips, described as “sickkk”. People liked the music and said it looked professional.
Seeing as people said that they liked the music I used in them I may try for my final one to find suitable orchestra music which relates to the way the trailer plays out.

Font Choice

When looking for a font to use with my trailer, film poster and film magazine cover featuring my film I looked through hundreds of different fonts, already installed onto the computer and online. I was looking for something serious, strong, but with a light hearted side to it and to be ‘fun’, comic sans was a possibility because it is sensible, easily readably, thin, and also had the fun side but the font was sans and I fancied a serif font. I eventually came across the font Monaco which looked perfect and matched all the criteria that I required for my font.

This font is called Infected and is downloaded from Dafont.com. It is a bold powerful font and has a strong imapact. It would be a good font for a magazine about rock music because of the thick lines and jaged edges, but for a film magazine i feel that it is inappropriate for a film magazine as i feel that it needs to be a more sophisticated font

I displayed a few fonts onto a mock poster i had created and showed this around, and 24 out of 43 people i showed went with the font Monaco. the other fonts featured were Comic sans and route_3 2 from Dafont.com.
